PROSPECTIVE STUDENT ATHLETE: PAUL OLIVER EDWARDS JR
Bowie High School, Bowie, MD 20715.
I am a 5 ft 11.75 ins, 145 lbs senior at Bowie High School, Bowie, Maryland.
Now that 1st July 09 has passed, I would like to commence looking at attending a University as a Full-Time student/athlete in the Fall of 2010, to run XC/Track & Field (400m & 800m) and Major in Business Administration.
I have had an excellent freshman, sophomore, junior and now senior year in athletics
and academics, with making the 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 4A High School XC County, Regional and State Championships, winning the 2009 County outdoor 800m championship (1:56), finishing in the top six at the State Championship in the 800m and anchoring the 4 x 400m=3:19 (48.86 split) and 4 x 800m relay teams of which the 4 x 400m relay team went to The 2008 and 2009 PENN Relays, earning a silver medal and is the 2009 4A County and Regional Champion. I have earned several “All-County” 1st and 2nd Team awards and was voted to be Bowie High School boys XC/Track and Field Team Captain for the 2009-2010 seasons.
In 2008 USATF State Junior Olympics IM (15-16) Boys, I was 1st in the 800m and
3rd in the 400m advancing to the 2008 USATF Region #3 Junior Olympics IM Boys,
where I was 1st in the 800m and advanced to the National Junior Olympics at
Omaha, Nebraska, where I finished 4th. This also led to me being ranked #19 AAU National Elite Youth Track Athlete on the Honor Roll while participating in Track & Field.
During my sophomore and junior years, I took the SAT and now have the following scores (Verbal=440, Math=470, Writing=540)=1450. My current GPA is 3.25, and my goal is to complete this senior year with a 3.50 or 3.75.
Based on my academic and athletic standings, I would like to know, what are your requirements for me to be admitted to your institution as a student / athlete and to be awarded any available academic and/or athletic scholarship that your institution has to offer.
