Race 2 Description |
| This was our boat's last race of the season, the petite final at Nationals. After the semifinals, where while fighting for second, we caught a crab in the last 250m, we came back and had an magical race. We had open water by 250m into the race and sent our seniors off with and amazing race, the best race of our lives. |

Race 2 Description |
| The Ltwt Varsity 4+ final. This was this boat's only timed 2k this season. We finished 15 seconds ahead of the second place boat. We had an awesome sprint and even though we didn't practice as a 4 a lot, come race day things clicked and we flew. Potentially, we would have had a faster time if we had contact with another boat but the race was very memorable. After the race we checked online for Ltwt 4+ 2k times across the country and we couldn't find a faster time. |

Additional Rowing Info
|
This spring the lightweight program at Mt. Baker, tested a weigh-in program which was borrowed from youth wrestling teams and several other Ltwt clubs in the DC area. After USRowing issued that unless something was done to change the state of youth lightweight rowing, ltwt events at nationals would be canceled, our Head Coach suggested we test this program that could potentially be the protocol for all youth ltwt boats. During the beginning of our spring season, a doctor came down to the boathouse and performed hydration and caliper tests on any rowers who wanted to compete for seats in the lightweight boat. We then weighed-in and based on our body fat percentage and current weight, a minimum healthy body weight was calculated. We were also all given the maximum weight (1.5% of total weight) we could loose per week. We continued with regular weight-ins throughout the season and had little to no "weight drama" all season, and helped show USRowing that there is a way to enforce healthy lightweight rowing.
I also was in the USRowing Safety Video (filmed in the summer of 2007) |
