Additional Baseball Info

Playing college level ball has been a dream of mine since I was about 7 yrs old. A close family friend played baseball at LSU and we made all his games including going to Alabama for the SEC tourney and I knew then when I was 13 years old that this was what I wanted to do and have since then been preparing and working extremely hard. I've been a starter for the high school team since 8th grade and played on the high school team since I was in the 7th grade. Where I live we only know a couple of things that is hard work and sports. I believe you have to work hard for everything you want and over my baseball career I have worked harder each season and pushed myself to higher level and set an example for my team and community which I feel are important. . I have played every position on the field depending on who was pitching and my senior year I added pitching to my positions. I don't have any problem playing anywhere. I just want to play and will play hard at any position I am asked. I have been clocked at several showcases throwing across the diamond between 85-87 and I run the 60 @ 7.2. I have been a strong hitter each season batting in either the 3rd or 4th position and batting over 560 each season. I hope to have an even better season this year as I worked extremely hard this past summer with a trainer to improve my body strength & condition. Our team won the Class B Louisiana State Championship my junior season. We were not suppose to be able to compete with any of these teams but, hard work a great coach and heart we did and accomplished great things as a team. You know that you are doing something right when you get walked intentionally - I had this happen to me 9 times this season and even in a playoff game. I had another great season my senior year and batted 676 with 10 homeruns, 9 intentional walks and for the second season no strikeouts. I was named Louisiana Hitter of the Year which was a great honor. I had several other baseball offers including several basketball offers but decided to go with baseball. About March of 08 offers started coming fast and continued to come. LSUA contacted me after seeing me play in our last playoff game against Oakhill and I set up a visit. After all the colleges I went to the last one I visited was the one I signed with. LSUA fit best. They have a really great academic program for my major. This will be the 3rd season for a baseball program @ LSUA. We did well last season and earned a birth to the NAIA tourney in Victoria Texas where we defeated the 1st game the #1 team in NAIA. I didn’t see a lot of playing action until the end of the season but when I did I went 16 for 22 with 3 Triples, 2 walks, 5 doubles, & 6 singles. I continue to daily improve myself. I wanted to do something different so I worked very hard on switch hitting. This is the greatest thing and I love it. Now I can hit from either side of the plate and can hit as well from the left as the right.
