I throw the following pitches regularly on my travel team: Fastball, Changeup, Riseball, Curve, Drop, Dropcurve and I have been working on my screwball. In 2009, my cureball, dropcurve, screwball & riseball have really come along nicely.
I mainly hit for power from the right side of the plate, but my coaches have told me that I could be a professional bunter. I also occasionally hit for power and bunt from the left side. In the past, I was normally the # 3,4,or 5 batter in the lineup. In 2009, I am the # 3 batter in the Oklahoma Rebel lineup and the #4 batter in the Catoosa lineup.
Here's a little Sports Bio about me:
I have played sports almost since I could walk. I started with soccer & I played it from pre-k until 7th Grade. I was the team captain for my last 3 years on the Oklahoma Thunder Soccer Team. In the spring of 2009 I was asked to help out the Catoosa High School Soccer team, so I ended up joining and finishing the season with them. I got to help my school, it helped to keep me in top shape and I lettered.
I started playing basketball when I was in the 4th grade. I played league ball and AAU for a few years and I was named MVP of my middle school my 6th & 7th grade years. I am a 3-year varsity starter (3 year Letterman) for my high school and I have received Athlete of the Week Honors 3 times for basketball in my local paper. In 2009, I was awarded Metro Lakes All Conference Honorable Mention for basketball. This season my coach had me play all of our junior varsity games then play all of the varsity games this season. It helped me with my footwork & ball handling skills & it helped me sleep really good! haha. My shooting at the line was great this year, but I had to work harder on my outside shot. This summer I will play with my high school team in a league at East Central High School in Tulsa (around my competitive softball schedule).
I was very active in middle school. While I was attending Wilson Middle School in Tulsa, I played volleyball, was on the track team and the bicycle relay race team as well as the basketball team. On the bike team, we won 2nd Place in the Tulsa Public Schools Race Day. On the track team, I was on the shot put team and the relay teams. We took 2nd Place my 7th Grade year on the relay team in the TPS Field Day & I won 2nd Place in the shot put both my 6th & 7th Grade years. While playing volleyball in the 6th & 7th Grade, I was awarded MVP Honors both years. I gave up volleyball since it goes on the same time as softball (here in Oklahoma at least). I transferred to Catoosa Public Schools in the 8th Grade, so that year I had to sit out of all sports.
I picked up the game of golf in the summer of my 8th grade year and it was so much fun! I still play for fun & I am on the varsity golf team at my high school (3 year Letterman). When I was a sophomore, I shot at 97 at the regional tournament, so I qualified for the state tournament. At state, I ended up being ranked 50th out of 80, so that was really cool. I also received All Metro Golf Honors (Honorable Mention) as a sophomore. My goal in 2009 is to qualify for state and finish better. So far in 2009, my best outing has a been a 42 on the back nine at Cherokee Hills Golf Club & a 95 on 18 at the Owasso Golf & Athletic Club.
I started playing softball when I was 8 years old & I still love it!! I've been able to play every position on the field. My main positions for years were shortstop, third base, pitcher, catcher, 1st base & outfield. Now, my primary positions on my travel team are pitcher & catcher and my secondary positions are 1st base & everywhere in the outfield. For my high school, I am the primary pitcher, but I also get to catch & play some outfield. I am a 3-year starter for the varsity team & a 3-year Letterman.
As you can tell I love playing sports, but since I have been in high school, I have concentrated on being a 3-sport athlete (softball, basketball & golf). In 2009, I've managed to keep my GPA at 3.9 while becoming a 4 sport Letterman (softball, basketball, golf & soccer). I work hard to stay in the best shape mentally & physically. I take my grades seriously and I am in the top 5% in my class. As of 5-2009, my class rank is 5 out of 140. This year, I waived one of my electives and chose to take an additional math, so I am taking college algebra & pre-calculus. I have also been in the National Honor Society ( & Junior Honor Society) since the 7th Grade. Last year, I was inducted into the Oklahoma Honor Society for being in the top 10% of my entire school. My short term goal is to graduate high school with Honors of Distinction, so my senior year, I am taking calculus & forensic science as well as the other AP Courses. My long term goal is to play collegiate softball and earn a degree in Psychology.
