Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I love swimming and being apart of a team. I started swimming when I was eight years old on our area club team and continue to participate on both a club and high school swim team. I would like to swim in college to see what my full potential is and what a different program can offer. I have enjoyed the friendships and relationships I have made through participating on a team. I would like to continue to work hard in swimming to achieve my goals and see the results of my hard work.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I will be Captain of my high school swim team during my Junior year. During my Freshman and Sophomore years on the high school team I mentored the new swimmers on their strokes and turns. Out of the pool I participate in Key Club, which is a service club, and I participate in Fantasy Flight which throws a Christmas Party for terminally ill children at Dulles Airport. Another activity I participate in outside of the pool is being a new reporter for my school's media news program.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

One of the important ways that I maintain a healthy mental athletic performance outlook is by periodically seeing a sports therapist to discuss my goals, concerns and any stress and anxiety I may be feeling. At first I was very hesitant about seeing a sports therapist but over time I have come to look forward to our sessions and to have someone to help me feel calmer, and ess stressed that is not a friend, coach or parent. I also maintain a healthy athletic performance by eating well and staying hydrated. I have incorporated dry land workouts and combining my high school and club work outs for additional yardage.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

My favorite community service that I have participated in during my Freshman and Sophomore years is Fantasy Flight. Fantasy Flight is a program that each year around Christmas time that volunteers from the high school travel to Dulles Airport to transform airport terminal into a Winter Wonderland/North Pole scene for families and children with terminal illnesses. The event is sponsored by United Airlines. As a volunteer I had to set up and decorate. During the event I participated by dressing up in a character costume to entertain the families. The day after the event we returned to the airport to clean up and take down the decorations.
