Personal Highlights

I am a German/American. My father is German and my mom is from California. I have enjoyed attending an international school and being around people from so many different places. I am confident in new situations and enjoy meeting new people. I am positive and personable and enjoy being in situations where I can take the lead. I am also good at listening to others and compromising. I am often the one motivating others on my team and in my other relationships. I am organized and resourceful. I also respond well to constructive criticism.

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I want to go as far as I can as an athlete. I can't imagine life without swimming. Swimming is not only the sport I love but also an outlet and space where I can have a single focus. With swimming, I get clear results and unlike some other areas in life, you get out of it what you put in. I am also keen to be part of a college swim team and the comradery that comes hand in hand with that.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I am always motivating my team members. Swimming is a tough sport with early morning and afternoon training. It can be easy to not put in 100% when you're tired. I'm always encouraging my team members to push themselves which in turn motivates me. I swim not only for the sport but also for the team comradery.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

As a student-athlete, I'm balancing a difficult academic program as well as 5 hours per day of training. I make sure I'm eating healthy and getting enough sleep. I'm also managing my time during school to ensure I keep up with work. Swimming has always been a good outlet for me and I find I have more focus for academics as a result of regular swim training.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

As part of the IB Diploma we have Community, Action and Service. I have done a variety of activities including creating fundraisers for our sister school in Nepal (Shree Mangal Dvip School). We support 4 students with their tuition at the school and I helped with fundraising events including a coin drive. In addition, I have set up clothing donation boxes around the school and promoted this to support some of the charities in our area that support refugees.
